Year Reflection

Summer Learning Journey- Day 1 (Practise)

Hi everyone, today i'm going to show you my idea of an New Zealand flag that Meagan actually helped me with. Megan is an person that is helping our school with the Summer Learning School Journey activity. Thanks Megan for helping our class get into this amazing activity that will help us during summer. I will show you the flag then explain why I choose those colours.

I chose the blue colour because Europeans came to New Zealand and became part of this culture and I couldn't find a dark blue so I did a lighter shad of blue. I also did the black to represent the black that is on the New Zealand flag. Thanks to Megan for helping me with this idea. The anchor is representing the pacific people that comes in the boats all the way to New Zealand to get a better life and education for their kids. The red is just for fun and I thought it actually looked fine so yeah.

Summer Learning Journey- Day 1 (Practise)

Hi everyone today i'm going to show you 3 facts about New Zealand people. My school is being a part of this Summer Learning Journey activity. I will link their website down below. The first fact that I did't know was that most of the kiwis live in the North Island and 1 third of the kiwis live in Auckland. Something I also didn't know was that nearly four hundred years ago the Maori people sailed across the pacific ocean in tiny canoes. One more thing is that over 15% of kiwi families own their own boat because they love the outdoors and beautiful silky blue water. -Why I chose this dance?

I chose this dance because they look amazing when their performing and also their costumes are nice.

I think Swazi.

- What I like about this dance?

I like how they all are kind of in time and I like how that girl stranded up first and did those moves which were brave.

- What is good about this dance?

It's good because if you want a dance that has teamwork you could use this dance easily.

- What could be improved about this dance?

I think they could be just a more bit in time.

- What I think the story behind this dance could be?
I think there is no story behind this dance, I think they just put a dance together to show their happiness.

Volleyball Blog Post

Hi everyone, today i'm going to just show you some photos and explain what I've learnt in volleyball. Before I get on to that, I want to give a massive thank you to my coaches Eleanor, Seine and Sam who have supported and encouraged me to keep on doing my best and never give up when something is hard. One of the skills I learnt is to bowl down like your lazy and then when the ball is coming put two wrist together and hit. Another skill I learnt is when it is super high just put your right foot forward and do a diamond above your head and bend and extend. I  also learnt how to spike and play a lot of games including elimination and tournament. Here are some photo's of me!

- Why I chose this dance?

I chose this dance because they looked amazing and I wanted to do one about my cultural.

- What country is this dance from?

Tonga

- What I like about this dance?

I like how they use the drum to figure out the beat and also I loved how they were all in time because that is hard to do especially if you under 20 and these guys are from Mangere Collage.

- What is good about this dance?

I like how they are spaced out for this dance on this stage. Also I loved how they smiled during their actions because it was so sunny and they manged to do it.

- What could be improved about this dance?

Maybe they could stop the drum half way so they can sing and do the dance so it can show their real talent.

- What I think the story behind this dance could be?
By the way they do their actions I think it's a story about a farmer and how he was trying to get his animals out of the rain but he failed and some of them died. So he kept blaming himself and he was on a journey to find himself and God.

Fijian Meke Dance

- Why I chose this dance?

I chose this dance because I really liked their actions.

- What country is this dance from?

This dance is from Fiji.

- What I like about this dance?

I like how they were all in time and their all looked like one person doing it. I also loved their costumes because it was using their traditional mat.

- What is good about this dance?

It is good because by the looks of it they did it in a tiny space but they could fit about 8 people so you could use this dance no matter how large or small the stage is going to be.
- What could be improved about this dance?

I think they should work on doing a little bit more actions together so they can look more neat and perfect.

- What I think the story behind this dance could be?
I think the story is that they were a group but something stopped them from being a group but then something is wrong in their town so they try to fix it.

I chose this dance because it's something different and unique to what I been posting up this week.

I think it's from India.

- What I like about this dance?

I like how they move and when I saw the cover, I didn't really think I will enjoy it but I was wrong.

- What is good about this dance?

I really like how they went into detail with their costumes and the children were all in time with their actions which is hard for children.

- What could be improved about this dance?

I think something that could be fixed is some people are wearing hats and some aren't which I thinks looks a bit messy.
- What I think the story behind this dance could be?
I think it was Diwali and they just practiced the week before to the a flash mob on Diwali Day.

Moana Dance

- Why I chose this dance?

I chose this dance because their actions are amazing and I like how they move in such a cultural way.

- What country is this dance from?

This song is from a movie and that movie was about all different pacific countries. But I think base on this song it's from Hawaii.

- What I like about this dance?

I like this dance because they all looked really cool because they were all in time and that's what makes them look awesome.
- What is good about this dance?

The good think about this dance is that when they do their actions they look like it's only one person doing it and it looks really neat.

- What could be improved about this dance?

I think when the part they just stand there because it's instrumental music is when they kind of look messy because people are moving here and there and it doesn't look right.

I think it's someone trying to find who they are and what their background could be.

My 3 Spirit Animals

SA 1- Lion
I think I kind of relate to a lion because personally I struggle to express my feelings to other people. I also read on a website that lions struggle to express their feeling too so I think I relate to them in that way. I also think I relate to the lion because I think that I am a little confident in what I do and so is the lion.

SA 2- Dog

I think I relate to a dog because I think I persevere with work and what i'm doing and dogs do the same thing which is something we have in common. I also think i'm trust worthy and and reliable and I read on a spirit animal website that their trust worthy and reliable.

SA 3- Bear

I think part of my spirit animal is a bear because I am confident and bears are very confident. I also think I show empathy at times and on this site it says that bears show empathy which I find hard to believe.

Happy Feet Dance

-Why I chose this dance?

I chose this dance because everyone looked so happy and joyful which I found is really awesome.

This dance I think is from Antarctica.

- What I like about this dance?

I like how some penguins were on the floor and then the rest of them were on the icebergs which I found it looked really cool and fun.

- What is good about this dance?
I find that this dance is good because everyone knows the dance and their all in time and it looks like they practice a lot to get this dance the way it is.

- What could be improved about this dance?
I think that like the main person that is walking down can maybe do a little more actions with the other penguins so it can look more tidy I guess.

- What I think the story behind this dance could be?

I think the story behind this dance is that they are trying to fight for their freedom but someone or something is stopping them and they need to figure out who or what that is.

Hip Hop Dance

-Why I chose this dance?

I chose this dance because the kids are all in time and I thought they looked pretty good for their age to me.

- What country is this dance from?

This song is I think from America but the kids that are dancing in it might be from all sorts of countries.

- What I like about this dance?

I like how they all move the same way and do the same actions but what I really like is that like all their actions are strong and powerful.

- What is good about this dance?

This dance is good because if you want to copy this dance, you don't have to be good at hip hop to do this dance. Also you can not worry about actions because they kind of repeat it.
- What could be improved about this dance?

I just think what need to be a little bit changed is that they just need to work on it a little bit because I feel like when they went down some people still did the other actions.

- What I think the story behind this dance could be?

I think this dance is like saying that when they dance they feel so much better and it takes them off their worries.

Marie Lu

Marie Lu is one of the biggest authors in America. She has written  one of the  books that is in a series that is read by millions of people. The series is called Spirit Animals and she has written book 7 so go check out because I predict it's going to be amazing. One tip is to read in order from book 1. Marie Lu was born is china and spent most of her  childhood in Beijing. In her spare time she likes to draw, read playing Assassin's Creed and getting stuck in traffic which is pretty weird. Other top books that she has written is Champion, Prodigy and etc. When she was 5 years old she was walking with her auntie when she saw tanks and soldiers preparing for  Tienanmen Square massacre in 1989 in Beijing. When she moved to Texas she studied political science. She was going to be a lawyer but she ended up taking a job as an art director. 

Japanese Fan Dance

- Why I chose this dance?
I chose this dance because their timing is incredible. I also picked this dance because they make it look so easy which I think is a really good dance.

- What I like about this dance?
I like how they all split up into groups and do the same moves but they do it in different times. Also I like how they tipped toed and did their action which is amazing.
- What is good about this dance?
It is good because it looks like there are a lot of people in this dance and if anyone want's to do this they could just copy the moves instead of worrying about space. Also when they do their actions they are all doing it in time.
- What could be improved about this dance?
I think they need to do more stuff together so it looks more neat and tidy when they are doing the actions. Also I want to challenge them if they can tiptoe with socks on it.
- What I think the story behind this dance could be?
I think that they were a group as one and then what happen was that they kind of split up because their were lies going through them. But then they reunited and tried to make a dance.

Sun Smart Poster

Kia Orana everyone, i'm going to be showing you a poster that I created for being Sun-Smart. I really think that being Sun-Smart is important because we don't want to get sun burned. There is a moto that relates  to this and it's Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide which is a very easy way of remembering sun screen. My Role Model Report

Ellen DeGeneres  is an awesome television reality star and many other things. I admire this person because she is a really kind person that give children  an opportunity to shine. She basically turns average people into  famous people. She always believes in herself.  Family are a big part of her life. She has all sorts of s talent that make her a star.

Ellen DeGeneres full name is Ellen Lee DeGeneres. She was born at Metairie, Louisiana, United States. She was born on the 26th of January on 1958   which means she is 59 years old. Ellen is an full american and I for sure know that she is really really proud to be apart of the american community. One thing I also know is Ellen is a christian and she is proud to be a christian. Before becoming famous she has had a lot of jobs during her time. She has worked in many different places like being a bartender, house painter, waitress and many more. She also donated money to Hurricane Katrina. Ellen was grown up to be a christian scientist with her brother. She didn’t take any medication or go to see a doctor until the age of 13.

Growing up Ellen  had a mum, dad  and a brother who  is  called Vance degeneres  who is older by 3 years which means he is 62 years  old. She has yet to be a mother but I know she is going to be a great mother one day.  Her mother is in fact a american speech therapist and she is also a author. Did you know she wrote a book called Love Ellen,  A Mother/Daughter Journey  which is about her  journey as being a mother for her daughter Ellen. Ellen gets a lot of support from her mother. She regularly sits in the talk show as the audience.Unfortunately Ellen’s  parents got divorced in 1974.  But Ellen and her brother still get  in contact with their father. He works as an insurance salesman.  

The 59 year old has been in a lot of movies and tv shows. She has 18 movies and and 7 tv shows so in total that is 25 together. That is  not surprising since her net worth is over $200 million, like that crazy right. That net worth was in 2014 so she must have more which awesome. Ellen has followed in her mother’s footsteps by writing amazing books that relate to their family and also other families. She has written  4 books in total. As I said earlier Ellen has all sorts of talents that make her a star. She is a comedian, actor, writer, producer and many more.

So what i’m trying to say is that Ellen is a very good role model. She inspires people to get up and work hard for what they love to do. She also is a very funny person which is not surprising since she is a comedian. For those people who don't like Ellen well she is an awesome and loving person who will always care for other people. I hoped I convinced you she is an awesome person.

Letter From The Trenches

Dear Diary

I can’t believe I nearly got shot out on the battlefield.It’s my first day here and I can’t believe I was already nearly shot.  I was so lucky that I never got killed because if I did Sunday was the last day that I would see my family again.  World war 1 is super scary that it’s even worse than  being  trapped on a survivor island. First of all one of our officers said why don't we just run over the hill and fight for our lives and our country. Even though it was a risk we agreed to it because we want to  do anything to fight for our country’s freedom even if it means being killed. So we raced up over the hill and started shooting away. It was  like hearing your son shooting a person on their video game for at least  There was shooting going on everywhere. What is even worst is that 9 or 10 of our guys were being killed on the first day of war. I just saw them fall right down on the ground.I always thought that they will fall down slowly because of the movies that I always watch.I think they just made it to be in slow mo. I keep on moving on to other people to fight with. I will tell you the saddest thing that happen today. So I ran up the battlefield and  this gun was pointing at me. I didn’t know so obviously he shot and this guy from my team didn’t know that I was getting shot. So he ran across me for some reason and instead of me getting shot about 2 times it was him that got shot him. He slowly and dramatically  just dropped to the floor. I was just staring at the body that was in front of me. I know it’s bad to stare but I couldn't help it. All of a sudden this guy ran up to me and tried to attack me but I defeated him and moved on. After 5 guys I defeated, our team quickly ran back to the trenches and we hid under the long and tall hill.  The trenches were not in a good condition. When it’s raining the ground makes puddles which saturated  inside my boots. Whenever we have to do  our business we  had to do it inside the trenches.  When we got back 5 people were near the hill looking out for any enemies of theirs. We all got in a circle and discussed the duties that we are going to have like watching out a night, watching out for their enemies  during afternoon, looking for food to eat there even though we didn’t eat that much and etc. I am on Tuesday night duty’s because I wanted to take time to look out for people and also spend some of my time writing in this diary and sending letters to my wonderful family. So here I am writing on a Tuesday night and Thursday night and watching out for enemies. On that note i’m going to check if there is any people that is targeting for us. Be right back! I just looked and it looks clear to me. Oh yea I also have to write a letter to send to my family soon. Even though it’s the first day of war I  am starting to really miss my family even my brothers and sisters. I know right it sounds so weird that I miss my brothers and sisters. If I don’t make it back alive this Thursday I would want my family to keep this book as a memory of me. Also if they read this and I don’t make it home I just want you guys to know that you guys were the best family a young man  could have. For my mum and dad you guys a the best ever parents that a little boy could dream of. Love you guys all!
